Majster Manchester City odštartuje novú sezónu Premier League v piatok 11. augusta na pôde Burnley, ktoré vedie jeho bývalý kapitán Vincent Kompany.
Manchester City, ktorý po víťazstve v Premier League, Lige majstrov a FA Cupe v sezóne 2022/23 oslavuje zisk treble, sa teraz pokúsi stať sa prvým anglickým tímom, ktorý vyhrá štyri ligové tituly po sebe. Zverenci Pepa Guardiolu vyhrali Premier League v piatich z posledných šiestich sezón.
Manažér Burnley Kompany strávil v City 11 rokov a získal štyri ligové tituly.
Sobotňajší program prvého kola otvorí vicemajster z Arsenalu, ktorý na domácom štadióne privíta Nottingham Forest. V ten istý deň čaká na debut v Premier League aj nováčika Luton Town, ktorý na pôde Brightonu odohrá prvý zápas v najvyššej súťaži od roku 1992.
V nedeľu 13. augusta začne Mauricio Pochettino ako nový manažér Chelsea na domácom štadióne s Liverpoolom.

Štatistické zaujímavosti otváracieho kola novej sezóny
Zápas Lutonu na pôde Brightonu bude ich prvým zápasom v najvyššej súťaži od mája 1992, keď prehrali 1:2 na pôde Notts County. Luton Town je 51. tímom, ktorý si zahrá v Premier League, pričom dva z posledných troch klubov debutujúcich v súťaži vyhrali svoj úvodný zápas (Huddersfield v roku 2017, Brentford v roku 2021).
Nottingham Forest vycestuje na pôdu kanonierov, ktorých v poslednom ligovom stretnutí v máji porazil 1:0. Lesníci s Gunners nevyhrali dva po sebe idúce zápasy od septembra 1978 (vtedy pod vedením Briana Clougha).
Je to len druhýkrát, čo sa Chelsea a Liverpool stretnú v úvodnom kole sezóny Premier League, v sezóne 2003/04 vyhrali Blues na Anfielde 2:1.
Žiadny tím nevyhral svoj úvodný zápas Premier League častejšie ako Manchester United (20).
Burnley vyhralo len jeden z posledných 23 ligových zápasov proti Manchesteru City (šesťkrát remizovalo a šestnásťkrát prehralo) a posledných osem zápasov v rade prehralo s celkovým skóre 1 ku 26.
Tottenham naposledy začal sezónu Premier League londýnskym derby v sezóne 2014/15. V prvom zápase Mauricia Pochettina na lavičke kohútov vyhral nad West Hamom 1:0.
West Ham, ktorý zavíta na pôdu Bournemouthu, prehral svoj úvodný zápas Premier League už 15-krát, častejšie ako ktorýkoľvek iný klub. David Moyes prehral 10 úvodných zápasov Premier League, viac ako ktorýkoľvek iný manažér.
Fulham čelil Evertonu v úvodnom zápase sezóny najvyššej súťaže dvakrát a oba zápasy prehral, v sezóne 1963/64 prehral 0:3 a v sezóne 1966/67 pomerom 0:1.
Sheffield United vyhral svoj úvodný ligový zápas len v jednom z posledných deviatich sezón (1 remíza, 7 prehier), keď v sezóne 2017/18 porazil Brentford 1:0. Šable prehrali posledné tri zápasy v rade, pričom len raz mali dlhšiu takúto sériu (štyri prehry v sezónach 1928/29 až 1931/32).
Newcastle v posledných 14 domácich zápasoch Premier League proti Aston Ville neprehral (osem vyhral, šesť remizoval). Táto séria sa začala od prehry 0:3 v apríli 2005 - v zápase, v ktorom boli za vzájomnú bitku vylúčení spoluhráči Kieron Dyer a Lee Bowyer.
